I just thought I’d remark on what it is I’m doing with this revision of The Mists of Faeron. Aside from the major change of switching from First Person Omniscient to Limited, I’m incorporating all of the changes from book one, The Last Incarnation. One of those not-so-minor changes includes giving the main character’s companions a voice. That added a lot of depth to the characters, and it needed to be dealt with in subsequent books. The second, which is a spoiler, I’ll leave for you to discover when it’s finished.
There were a number of storylines that I’ve done away with, so that I’m only following the main character and the antagonist - or people closely tied to them. That means some very cool stories won’t be in the book and probably won’t even be referenced to. I may or may not use them at another time. As much as I liked the Warmaster Thoryn line or Jyotika and her assassins, Bejue and Lavender or following the Guardians and Gods, I think the book will have a stronger story without them. This allows me to focus more on Barr and all of those around him, as well as giving a better look at Ealdan/Markus, his revenants and his relationship with the god Revyn.
I’m taking my time with the descriptions, going into more depth with the surroundings, though knowledges of backstory is limited to the point-of-view character. For instance, I may keep the demon hunter, Sera, but she won’t have knowledge of how her curse came about - or that there are four others out there just like her.
The Emblems now are sentient and are also given a voice - or visual communication, as the case may be. They aren’t full blown characters, but they do affect the story. The same will hold true for the revenants. I intend to give them a deeper role than I originally did.
Once I finish the third chapter, I’m going to replace the sample chapters I have listed. This will give everyone an idea just how different the book will be. The story is the same, but the storytelling has changed.

The Last Incarnation was just reviewed over at POD People. Thanks for all your effort, Pamela!
I’m still working on chapter two of The Mists of Faeron revision. Each chapter is going to average 15-20 pages, so they’re taking a little longer. I need to find a way to squeeze in more writing time, but it’s been very difficult to do so - even without playing video games.
Happy Father’s Day everyone!
I’ve started writing the revised version of The Mists of Faeron. I’m devoting most of my free time to finishing it. I thought it would be nice to keep tabs here on my progress.
Estimated Chapters: 20
Chapters Completed: 20
Pages Completed: 448
Updates:
April 21, 2009 - Chapter 11 completed.
April 28, 2009 - Reorganized events a bit and had to add another chapter to the outline.
May 4, 2009 - Chapter 12 completed.
May 18, 2009 - Chapter 13 completed.
May 31, 2009 - Apparently I forgot to list Ch 14. Ch 15 completed.
June 5, 2009 - Chapter 16 completed.
June 13, 2009 - Chapter 17 completed.
July 2, 2009 - Chapter 18 completed. This took longer than usual because my daughter is on summer vacation. It’s hard to write when she insists on playing Xbox in the room with me. Plus, I sort of procrastinated. I’m dreading the next chapter a bit. It’s the climax of the book…
July 18, 2009 - Chapter 19 completed. I thought I’d never get this one finished. One more to wrap things up, and then it’s all about the editing.
July 21, 2009 - Chapter 20 completed. That’s it, no more chapters!
So here’s what needs to happen before the new version goes to the printer.

Nov 25: The book is completely finished. I’m just working out details with the publisher now.
Nov 28: I’m in the process of sending the completed .pdf files to the publisher. Henning is touching up the covers. I’m hoping to have a sample copy of book one (redoing this for cover and typos) and two within a week.
Dec 03: The new files have been sent to the printer. I should receive a sample galley for approval in 10 days or so.
Dec 08: Remember to check the E-Serial section. I’m going to be releasing book one for free, a chapter per week, to celebrate the release of book two.
Dec 10: I just received both paperbacks in the mail. They look incredible! I sent a message to the publisher. I’m hoping the books will be available for purchase by this weekend.
